Breaking news: meeting through friends slips in polls

You can always count on USA for a good bullshit poll, and this one is no exception. According to the “study”, the best way to meet someone is through friends, but the web comes in a close second. “The Internet is the one social arena that is unambiguously gaining in importance over time,” the study finds.

LITD went on the beat, speaking with thousands of singles about this curious trend.  By our account, the fall of meeting through friends and rise of the Internet is captured in this quote by Sarah Williamson: “Getting set up by friends is okay, but it makes the ‘ol one night stand thing pretty much impossible. With the ‘net, I have no one to answer to but my own conscience.” And, she added, “my conscience is a lot easier on me than my friend Nancy.”
